BEST WISHES
September 23 – October 12, 2011 (Closed October 3 & 10)
Hours: 3 – 9PM
MK Guth will be at P3 Studio daily.
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas and Art Production Fund are pleased to announce MK Guth as the latest artist to be featured in the resort’s artist-in-residence program.
MK Guth’s Best Wishes, is an interactive installation where Guth is both the performer and installation. Visitors are encouraged to write down their dreams and aspirations on white strips of fabric, which will be braided into Guth’s hair, extending it and allowing it to consume the space. On Tuesday, October 11 at 4:00PM Guth’s hair will be cut and displayed in the space through October 12. During this residency, Guth serves as a repository for people’s dreams and desires, as well as a persona, for which visitors can talk and confide. Special funding for Best Wishes came from the Oregan Arts Commission and the Ford Family Foundation.
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas’ artist-in-residence program brings emerging and established contemporary artists to the resort inviting them to utilize space for creative production and exhibition of their work. The program debuted with artist Fab 5 Freddy when the resort opened December 15, 2010, followed by Las Vegas Artist Steven Spann, Shelter Serra and most recently KidRobot, who remains at the resort in a free-standing store on the Retail level. Art Production Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to producing ambitious public art projects, helped curate the unique programs at the resort, which feature several genres across the artistic spectrum.
