UNIBAIL-RODAMCO-WESTFIELD & ART PRODUCTION FUND PRESENT SAYA WOOLFALK “LANDSCAPE OF ANTICIPATION” AT WESTFIELD WORLD TRADE CENTER AND WESTFIELD CENTURY CITY
NEW YORK, NY— Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield and Art Production Fund (APF) are pleased to announce the fourth installment of their 2019 video art program. Starting November 15, 2019 a new site-specific work from artist Saya Woolfalk will be displayed across all of the large-scale screens at Westfield World Trade Center, New York, NY and Westfield Century City, Los Angeles, CA until December 15, 2019. The video work will appear on both center’s state-of-the-art digital media networks, including Westfield World Trade Center’s 21 screens of varying size, with one measuring four stories tall and another 280 feet long and Century City’s two 100-foot large-format and high impact digital media screens. Woolfalk’s video “Landscape of Anticipation” is a panoramic immersive landscape made up of various painted, digital, and live action elements. Over the last 10 years Woolfalk has created the storyworld of the Empathics, a highly technological fictional race of people who are able to alter their genetic make-up and fuse with plants. With each body of work, Woolfalk continues to build the narrative of the Empathics to investigate the utopian possibilities of empathy, embodied research, and cultural hybridity, as well human relationships with their technological and natural environments.

ABOUT SAYA WOOLFALK: Drawing on her own familial history, Saya Woolfalk (b. 1979 Gifu City, Japan) incorporates African American, European American, and Japanese cultural influences, while alluding to science fiction, feminist theory, mythology, anthropology, archaeology, Eastern religion, and fashion. She re-imagines the world in multiple dimensions, creating works of art in a wide range of mediums including painting, sculpture, video, performance, and multimedia installations. Woolfalk earned her B.A. in visual art and economics from Brown University in 2001 and her MFA in sculpture from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2004. Works by Saya Woolfalk are in several public collections including the Whitney Museum of American Art; the Studio Museum in Harlem; the Chrysler Museum of Art; the Mead Museum of Art; the Montclair Art Museum, The Zabludowicz Art Trust and the Weatherspoon Art Museum.
