DEBBIE LAWSON ART SUNDAE WORKSHOP
On December 9, 2023, Debbie Lawson led a children’s art-making workshop inspired by her then-current Art In Focus exhibition at Rockefeller Center.
Referencing the artist’s carpet-camouflaged animal imagery, Lawson invited children to study patterns within nature and the built environment. In collaboration with the artist, participants had the opportunity to wrap bird forms with patterned carpet design and contribute to a wooded sculptural scene enveloped by a matching pattern.
ART SUNDAE is an ongoing public program established by non-profit Art Production Fund and New York gallery Fort Gansevoort that is designed to build confidence in children through art-making. This free program allows children to work with a contemporary artist to create a public art project. The program is designed to be accessible to all and highlight art’s positive impact across all communities.
